Rules

The "Rules" resource contains all sets of rules that are used to automate the Hue Bridge. The term automation refers to the configuration and use of accessories such as Hue switches or Hue motion sensors. Connected accessories only work if corresponding rules are created for the desired functions. For example, for the Hue Dimmer which has 4 buttons, at least 4 rules are required in order to be able to react to all buttons. A rule contains at least one condition and at least one action. At the moment when the defined conditions are met, the specified actions are executed. A condition can be, for example, that button 3 of the Hue dimmer is pressed. An action can be, for example, that a lightgroup is turned on. Since the rules are stored on the Hue Bridge, they are executed completely regardless of whether the smartphone is connected to the Hue Bridge or not.

Supported conditions

When creating or editing a rule, you can define the conditions you want. The conditions are always linked with AND, i.e. all conditions must be met at the same time for the rule to be triggered. If a combination of the conditions with OR is to be achieved, the corresponding rule must be copied and the corresponding condition in the copy modified as an alternative. "all 4 hue" offers a wide range of options. The following list shows all conditions including explanations.

Supported actions

When creating or editing a rule, you can define the desired actions to be executed when the conditions are met. The actions are executed one after the other in the order listed. "all 4 hue" offers a wide range of options. The following list shows all actions including explanations.
